We Came Into the World Naked. There’s No Such Thing as Privacy.

Updated: Oct 23

To say the least, we live in very interesting times where anything and everything is accessible with the right amount of money or clearance. I used to think that money was the root of all evil (hence the name of my first couler blend), but maybe it’s not. It seems to just amplify the true morality and desires of one’s heart, whatever that is (it’s different for everybody).

When I think about how I came into the world, it was from my mother’s womb to an operating room full of strangers, and as time passed, I met more strangers, which branched out into other associations (like a tree…I love taking pictures of trees). Anywho, using a tree as an example has been used plenty of times, so I’m gonna move on, but basically, we're individuals, and we have all of these possibilities when it comes to how or who we meet…in real life…and…on the internet.

With so many technological advancements like the infamous World Wide Web, artificial intelligence, media, and everything else under the sun…it’s naïve to think that for one second we can’t be found or discovered, but then again…who knows. From our cars to our phones, technically nothing is private unless we were to live off-grid, but I also feel like that comes in far, few, and in-between.

In my opinion, the most pure and beautiful things haven’t been discovered yet, but then again, there are also some evil, dark entities out here that lurk in the shadows. I just looked up a lyric from ”Rich Baby Daddy”…“Heard there’s money on my head, what is that to me?…I put a hundred bands on him, he put a rack on me” (the song was written by a lot of people, so yeah) …moving right along! The song is a lil’ bop, honey, but the point I’m trying to make is, the more money we have, the more we can use to do whatever we want or pay off whoever we want. From hacking to stalking, to sex, to intimidation, to private investigators, etc…the list is endless! Or maybe we actually use it for wholesome reasons like protection, building a legitimate empire, helping others, etc…the “good” things are endless too. Either way, both are present in the world, and the reality of life is that we can’t let fear stop us from doing things. Our data is literally being collected and used all the time (I mean, that’s what algorithms are for, right?), so this illusion that everything we do is encrypted or safe is somewhat of a fantasy, like Candyland (not like the one in Django Unchained…really good movie though).

I completely understand not wanting to get caught up in a web of chaos (a.k.a. the internet). I even saw a post on Reddit or Quora that basically stated we should just erase our prints by not using it at all or using fake names (aliases and avatars already exist)…But I don’t think that’s realistic either. The woes of life can hit us on OR off the internet, and depending on how we utilize not only ourselves, but our time, and the tools provided to us (a.k.a. the internet)…they both affect each other.

I just looked up the significance of a spiderweb, and basically, it’s used to catch prey. Now, depending on one’s beliefs, a spider or a web is seen as something spiritually good/bad or maybe realistically good/bad. Either way, when tying it back to the internet, collecting data, or our lives, we’re the inevitable prey to the World Wide Web. It can be a place where people take credit for others' innovative ideas, but it’s also a place where communities with like-minded interests are brought together (even this can have its downfalls). There’s a thin line between a community and a cult…but I’m gonna let that topic go…

Anywho, at the end of the day…collecting data is nothing new, and to live a life thinking “because I don’t use the internet” or whatever, I can’t be found, is wishful thinking…hmm… but then again, there are some crafty people out here, man. Chile, let me go ahead and land these thoughts so I can go about my day...all I’m really trying to say is, morality or corruption starts from within, and since we’re all vessels, it’s up to us to decide in REAL life the choices we make because no one is perfect and we’re all walking contradictions.

*Hmm…being a “ghost” could work too...but they would need to be a nameless one…with no access to technology...or maybe they do have access...using an alias or avatar.
