Actions Speak Louder Than Words: Is Love Supposed to Hurt?
Updated: Oct 23
When I googled the definition of love, I interpreted the meaning as something beautiful, enjoyable, and positive, and to take it a little deeper, to me, a Divine union is an equally yoked and inevitable spiritual connection that surpasses the physical world, allowing souls to intertwine into one.
I even remember when I was young and dumb, mentioned here: Don’t Match Energy but Don’t Be a Fool Either, when I stated: “I was naïve and thought love, career, and wealth worked out like in the happy endings of wholesome movies.” Unfortunately, real life doesn’t always work out like the fairytale endings, and as I continue to evolve, learn, and grow…I’m allowing Divine timing to work everything out. For me personally, I’m not going to allow myself to be lovey-dovey and self-sacrificing towards anyone else where it’s not reciprocated or with someone who doesn’t want to maintain a genuine, two-parent home and union not based on materialism, yet still prosperous.
I remember when I did a mashup for one of my Couler Blends: listen. Love hurts.
I don’t know if it’s the duality in me (shout out to my top three: Pisces, Cancer, Gemini), but there’s this contradicting yet beautiful essence I didn’t even know I captured about “love” until after I mixed everything and listened to it afterwards. I’ve always contemplated why some human beings (especially influencers or public figures) who pretend to be holier-than-thou individuals in their marriages choose to say or do things that are emotionally or verbally abusive or whatever the case may be, behind the scenes!? And then have the nerve to say it’s being done out of love. I’ve noticed that a lot with certain entities, etc., but I’m going to keep it pushing.
To me, love isn’t cheating or being physically, verbally, or emotionally abusive. Now is it perfect?! Hell no, because man oh man…I can’t speak for other women, but when it’s time for Mother Nature’s monthly gift, watch your tone and for sure don’t talk to me crazy (I’m joking, but I’m not). My lil’ lioness energy still likes to play when it comes to my words (a.k.a. cuss yo ass out), but yoga and grounding in Mother Nature keep me calm and balanced, honey.
I remember when…probably 7+ years ago, I started to become so rigid and cold because I kept settling and blaming myself for accepting the bare minimum and to be honest, the details of my love life are irrelevant but I didn’t understand why people who were hoes, were becoming wives or husbands all the while, I was focused on my career, working full-time, being responsible, and still attracting emotional leeches and bums. Plus, I’m not about to just marry anybody, honey, but showing off money and flashy bullshit means nothing to me either. Some of us still value the character of a person and the sacredness of a monogamous union.
I think I needed this time to fall in love with myself before coming into union with someone I want to spend the rest of my life with. Forever is a long time, honey. Plus, I’m picky…but like, I’m not…the bug-a-boos from my past can attest to that.
I don’t know…maybe the spiritual, physical, and emotional connection I want doesn’t exist, but I’m also not about to be out here at my grown-ass young age trying to seek attention to fill a void that I’ve found within. These Couler Blends express that perfectly:
I’ve done so much healing when it comes to emotional scars, and just like I mentioned here: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of Celibacy, it’s a bit scary to think that someone else may or may not disrupt my peace of mind, and it's something I don’t want to think about, but at the same time…I love, love…or at least the thought of it. To be honest, my person just needs to understand me telepathically and vice versa tf lol.
Either way, with everything being so subjective, I’m going to continue enjoying my self-love journey because now that I’ve experienced the bug-a-boos and a false twin flame, a divine masculine/soulmate/best friend is the only option left.
